6. Property and business torts: Trespass to Land; Trespass to Goods, Detinue and Conversion; Interference with Contract or Business; Liability for Misstatements.
7. Remedies: Death in relation to Tort; Damages, Claim and Compensation; Remedies.

Part II – Compensation and Insurance under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Chapter 25)

Part III – Consumer Protection Law (Chapters 26-27): the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Competition Act, 2002.

A Simple Way to Study It

• Weeks 1-2: Chapters 1-3. the opening chapter covers what a tort is, how it differs from crime, breach of contract and breach of trust, and the ideas of injuria sine damno and damnum sine injuria. Everything later builds on this.
• Weeks 3-5: Vicarious liability, remoteness, and the specific torts (Chapters 4-10).
• Weeks 6-7: the negligence group (Chapters 11-13), followed by strict and absolute liability (Chapter 16).
• Week 8: the remaining property and business torts, and remedies (Chapters 17-24).
• Weeks 9-10: Part II and Part III, which many universities teach alongside Torts.
